STAIR STRUCTURES

The way the stair is held up structurally and aesthetically

TRADITIONAL

Traditional stairs are closed riser and use framing lumber as the structure and are then wrapped in with 'finishes' (usually drywall, tread covers and risers)

OPEN RISER

Open riser allow light to pass through for an open and airy aesthetic.  The stair stringer would either be on the side or under the treads.

FOLDED

Folded stairs have a floating zig-zag profile and have closed risers.
